I love this holiday because the patriotic side of our great nation comes out... and sometimes it seems like we have forgotten what our forefathers have done for us to have the great freedoms that we enjoy. I love getting together with people I care about and celebrating the freedoms that we as a nation are blessed with.

On Saturday morning my wonderful hubby woke me up at the crack of dawn, so that we could go to our wards 4th of July Pancake Breakfast. This is a tradition that I grew up with, except as a child, I was going to the Concord III Ward Breakfast and now I am an adult and a mom going with my husband and son to the Marsh Creek Ward Breakfast.

Later on in the day, Jedi and I along with JP, picked up Jackson B and Nicholas to head to Pleasant Hill for the 4th of July Celebration. It was pretty warm out but we had a good time eating BBQ, listening to the live bands, and just hanging out.

After a nice afternoon in PH we headed over to Jedi's parents house to hang out with Bambi and the poodle puppies. Nicholas had a blast and wanted to take them all home. Hahaha. We hung out there until it was time to go to see some fireworks. We headed our mile long hike with the kids, over to the Singing Flag. The was PACKED as usual, but this year the El Dorado Field was not packed... The City had forgotten to turn off the sprinkler system, which soaked all the families that had set up there to watch the fireworks. I felt horrible for them. Jacquie, Nicholas, Jedi, JP and I all cuddled up the blankets to wait for the fireworks.

Whe the fireworks started it was so beautiful. JP has been crawling around a bit, but hasn't quite gotten the art of it down, although he has been motating around we have not yet felt the need to confine him because he isn't going too fast just yet.

Up until this point the little guy has been going back and forth between sleeping in his crib and sleeping smack dab in the middle of me and the hubby (ensuring that he has no siblings coming about just yet...). Today he was taking a nap on our king sized bed while I worked around him doing laundry and chores, chores, chores, when I decide to add another load of laundry to my already overwhelming stack of "to fold" pile. So in the midst of the switching of the laundry loads I hear a BANG come from the bedroom, and low and behold in the 3 minutes of time it took me to switch around the laundry, my massive 10 month old, wakes up, pushes the pillow (the one that is seperating him from the edge of the bed) OFF the bed, crawls to the edge and tumbles to the ground. Now those of you that have spent some time with my son know his temper... and wow was he ticked. Totally unscathed but definately ticked.

Of course I panicked, what can I say? He's my first kid.

Apparently from this day forth he will be cribbin' it....

Hello All!

So... I have been in the blogging game for some time now with my family blog site, and I am starting to get the blogging bug, now that my little boy is a little more self entertained and I have a minute to think...

What to tell... What to tell...

My name is Rachel Marien, I'm married to an awesome man named Jedi, and we have a beautiful little boy named Jedi Preston. We live a relatively charmed life.

It's odd how people come together. My husband and I grew up in the same town, going to the same high school, and church building and we never met... His sister was best friends with my sister for years and he knew my older brother from seminary but alas we never knew each other... I am sure that the 4 year age difference had something to do with it. But then... 4 years after I move out of town we meet 40 minutes away from where we both live, at a young single adults conference that neither of us were planning on going to... but both were forced into. We met and spent all day talking. And that's how it all began.

We spent everyday for a month together just hanging out getting to know each other. He was my match. He is loving and sweet, but he challenges me everyday because we are both stubborn and strong willed. We both have a lot of passion for life I am so proud to be his wifey. I love you babe.
